Birds #5 (2026)
It’s possible that a Nashville warbler briefly stopped by today, but I really wanted to record what has made this spring different or notable from years past:
Pine siskins were around in late winter, but never decided to eat from the feeder
A white-throated sparrow DID become fond of the feeder and regularly stopped by to perch
A song sparrow discovered the joy of eating at the feeder, rather than beneath it
Catbirds, too, have suddenly felt safe coming to the feeder
Lots of scarlet tanager action high up in the trees
After not coming to the yard last year, an indigo bunting came 3 or 4 days in a row in early May
