Birds #5 (2026)

It’s possible that a Nashville warbler briefly stopped by today, but I really wanted to record what has made this spring different or notable from years past:

  • Pine siskins were around in late winter, but never decided to eat from the feeder

  • A white-throated sparrow DID become fond of the feeder and regularly stopped by to perch

  • A song sparrow discovered the joy of eating at the feeder, rather than beneath it

  • Catbirds, too, have suddenly felt safe coming to the feeder

  • Lots of scarlet tanager action high up in the trees

  • After not coming to the yard last year, an indigo bunting came 3 or 4 days in a row in early May
