(Almost) everything seems to have come up overnight: trout lily leaves down by the brook, a few mayapple shoots, trillium (unopened) everywhere, false-solomon’s seal, Siberian squill, primrose leaves. No magnolia blossoms yet, no fiddleheads, no interrupted fern.
One neighbor tells me there’s been an osprey over the brook. Today I heard a kingfisher, or thought that I did. Another neighbor took a video of probably the same bear I encountered on my walk, treed by her barking dogs. These past few days have been full of the trill of a brown creeper. Possibly heard a chipping sparrow, but it could have been a junco. Awaiting the first Louisiana waterthrush. It drizzled overnight, and part of today, but it still feels too dry. Warm temps forecast for the week, and daily rain, but how much remains to be seen.
