Birds #3 (2022)

The Louisiana waterthrush has been busy singing for at least two weeks, and it’s been a banner year for white-throated sparrows and ruby-crowned kinglets as well. Heard the first broad-winged hawk of the year the other day, and have also heard/seen chipping sparrow, house wren, bald eagle, northern flicker, field sparrow, and more. Our yearly outing in our neighbors’ fields to hear and see woodcocks was the most successful yet, with one starting to sing at dusk no more than 30 yards away.
