Birds #2 (2021)

Just went out to check the trail cam (feral cat, but two nights ago our first bobcat and a gray fox), and heard the drill of a yellow-bellied sapsucker. Phoebes have been back, and I’m hoping they rebuild the next on the side of our house. Song sparrows have been in the yard, and before I took the feeder down we finally had some goldfinches come by after being absent all winter. There were also a pair of thrushes, which I’m guessing were hermit thrushes, though it seems early. I’m not sure any of the thrushes that breed further north migrate sooner. Red-winged blackbirds have been back, though not on our property.

Last weekend we were successful in hearing and seeing the woodcock at dusk in the Ferris’ fields.
